INTRODUCTION

The Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound (DDUS) is a one-year competency-based program offering intermediate-level training in general and obstetric sonography. It builds on foundational science and ultrasound physics to develop clinically capable sonographers who can independently perform and document diagnostic scans across key anatomical regions.

Location: 6.7 Km Japan Road, Sihala, Islamabad.
Recognized By: Higher Education Commission

Entry Requirements:

  • Academic Qualifications (Any one of the following)

    • FSc (Pre-Medical or Pre-Engineering) with minimum 50% marks
    • CDMS (Certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography) from a recognized institution
    • Allied health diploma (Radiography, Nursing, MLT, Physiotherapy) from a recognized institution
    • MBBS
    • Nurses/ LHVs

    Preferred Background

    • Science or allied health background strongly preferred
    • Working professionals in radiology, imaging, or clinical departments given priority

VISION & MISSION

  • Demonstrate understanding of ultrasound physics and instrumentation
  • Identify relevant human anatomy and physiology on ultrasound images
  • Perform systematic abdominal, gynecological, and obstetric ultrasound scans
  • Identify normal anatomy and common pathologies
  • Optimize image quality and minimize artifacts
  • Apply safety protocols including the ALARA principle

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

The Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound is a 1 year intensive program delivered in ODL format, designed to provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills in medical ultrasound. Theoretical content is delivered online, while hands-on clinical training is conducted through supervised hospital attachment. The program covers physics, instrumentation, anatomy, abdominal, gynecological, and obstetrics ultrasound. Graduates will be equipped to perform basic to intermediate ultrasound examinations under supervision.
